One organization that is near and dear to the hearts of those of us who work at A New Path is called TPAS. TPAS (Treatment Professionals in Alumni Services) is a professional membership association that promotes addiction treatment alumni programs as well as recovery support services. At A New Path, we believe that these alumni programs and recovery support services are vital to long-term success and significantly reduce the incidence of relapse.
Earlier this week, Jordan was at the Serra Retreat working with other TPAS committee members to make preparations for this fall’s TPAS collaborative being held from September 28th – October 1st. Located in Malibu, CA, The Serra Retreat, which will also be home to the September collaborative, is a getaway nestled in the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. With numerous gardens, ponds, and even a labyrinth, the Serra Retreat is the perfect place to let creativity flow.
Unlike any other event in our industry, the annual TPAS collaborative doesn’t follow a usual conference agenda. Instead, the 3.5 day event utilizes Open Space Technology – which is a workshop design often used to solve extremely complex problems in innovative and productive ways. The collaborative allows alumni coordinators from around the country come together to exchange best practices and help each other create the best alumni programs possible.
You have to experience the collaborative first hand to truly understand the magic.
